We took a trip to Austin for the SXSW Gaming Expo this past weekend and it was a blast! We played a ton of awesome indie games both released and unreleased, met some awesome people and got to see some cool parties. Some of our highlights included Astroneer, The Gardens Between, Zarvot and Joggernauts.
In our news, Halo Master Chief Collection was announced for PC and 343 Studios got a bunch of pizza. Brendan Greene is starting a new internal division at PUBG Corp and Ninja was paid around 1 million to stream Apex Legends on launch day.
Our discussion this week involves premium, early access content. Many games have special editions priced higher than 59.99 that include not only bonus in-game items but also early access to play the game or early access to DLC. This opens a wider conversation about whether or not we’re overspending on content or access and if it’s fair to the broader community as a whole.
